Facts of Te Tiriti O Te Waitangi

Captain Cook

1.  The english tricked the maori to sign the form.

2. 1769 - First europeans to land in NZ.

3.  1769 - captain cook landed in Gisborne.

4.  1960-waitangi day was made.

  5.   1872- the conflict between the english crown and the maori ended.

6.    James busby presented a document to 34 chiefs.

7. 500 maori chiefs signed the treaty by the end of 1840.

8. The maori thought that captain cook's boat was a big bird.

9. The name has altered between waitangi day and new zealand.

10.    Waitangi day is to celebrate the contract that had been signed.
